Exciting News

What a year for the Vinvolved Team volunteers.

Poole CVS held an awards evening for volunteers in Poole to celebrate all the amazing work they do.

Sarah Richbell was awarded 1st place for the volunteer of the year 2010.

Kirsty Seager was presented a certificate to celebrate her dedication to volunteering with Vinvolved and other projects in the Poole area.

Below is what was said about them

 Kirsty Seager

Kirsty has been a dedicated volunteer for many years with Vinvolved. She began by being involved in our Youth Action Team, with an aim of celebrating youth volunteering and ensuring that V is youth led. She has now developed in her volunteering role to be a peer mentor for The Chatterbox Magazine project, which supports young people with disabilities to showcase the activities, which are available in the area for young people with disabilities. She also is involved in The YMCA Youth Committee Board with an aim of ensuring young peoples voices are heard. Kirsty is always eager to help and do new things and we are proud to have her as a volunteer at our organisation. Her passion to improve things for young people with disabilities shines through and she is always eager to develop and try new things.

 Sarah Richbell

Sarah began volunteering with Vinvolved several years ago. She has spent many years volunteering at Creekmoor Youth Centre, helping to organize sessions for young people with disabilities. Her passion to support others is clear and she is now currently a peer mentor for a youth led project called The Chatterboxes, which designs and produces a magazine to showcase what activities are available for young people with disabilities. At V we feel a sense of pride to see how far Sarah has developed over the years. She is always eager to do more and spread the word about the joys of volunteering and encourage others to find the benefits from volunteering in their community.  She is an asset to have within our youth groups and always has a smile on her face, even if a day at college has been tough.

We are hugely proud of Sarah and Kristy. Well done from the Vinvolved Team

Next Generation steers towards Lulworth!

3 young people from the Next Generation steering group traveled to Lulworth on Wednesday.  Despite the rain, they went foraging in the sand at Durdle Door, ate fish and chips at Lulworth Cove and joined in with a graffiti mural in Swanage!  It was a jam-packed day full of jokes and giggles.
Oscar, Jamie & Cassie have been working really hard designing the Next Generation logo and undertaking a secret mission in the name of all young people aged 11-16 in Bournemouth.  All will be revealed next month so watch this space!

Bournemouth Borough Council's Launch of Homeless Voices Booklet & DVD!! PDF Print E-mail
Homeless Voices will enjoy the official launch of their film and booklet at the Town Hall on Friday 5th February 2010, 1pm - 6pm.

"You have a choice" will be screened at 2.30pm and 5.00pm Friday 5th February in the HMS Phoebe Room @ the Town Hall. This film was commissioned by Bournemouth Borough Council's Housing Solutions Team and written, filmed and edited by Homeless Voices, Film Junkies and the YMCA. A brilliant piece of partnership working and an exciting project for all who were involved. Homeless Voices will be available on the day to answer any questions visitors may have regarding the film or booklet. They will also be available for a big pat on the back as they worked so hard during the summer of 2009.

The booklet and film are all about providing young people with the key information they may need when leaving home or thinking about leaving home. The emphasis is on prevention as Bournemouth Borough Council offer a mediation servuice called TUTI "Talk Us Through It."

Homeless Voices will be taking the film and booklet round local schools and youth centers spreading the word about what can be expected if you find yourself out on the street, places you need to go, people you need to see and of course your options.

Homeless Voices, know your choices.
